**[Mastercard Partners with Ripple and Gemini to Explore Stablecoin Settlement for Card Transactions on XRPL]** Odaily Planet Daily News: Mastercard has announced a partnership with crypto trading platform Gemini and blockchain company Ripple to explore the use of the RLUSD stablecoin for fiat card transaction settlements on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The statement noted that once implemented, the initiative will become "one of the first cases of a U.S.-regulated bank using a regulated stablecoin to settle traditional card transactions on a public blockchain." Gemini stated that its issued credit cards are supported by WebBank and have already launched XRP and Solana versions, allowing users to earn cashback in XRP or SOL tokens through spending. WebBank is also participating in this RLUSD settlement pilot project. Ripple, as the primary driver of XRPL, will provide underlying technical support for the collaboration. Additionally, Mastercard has been actively expanding its partnerships in the crypto and blockchain space. In June, the company partnered with Chainlink to offer consumers an on-chain, secure fiat-to-crypto asset exchange channel. Meanwhile, the digital identity project Humanity Protocol also announced a collaboration with Mastercard to promote the application of open financial technology in credit and real-world financial services.
