[Canada Plans to Establish Stablecoin Regulatory Laws, Following the U.S. Approach]
BlockBeats News, November 5, the Canadian government officially announced a regulatory plan for stablecoins in its fiscal framework. It will follow the U.S. regulatory approach to oversee fiat-backed stablecoins, requiring issuers to maintain adequate reserves and adopt robust risk management measures. The Bank of Canada will allocate CAD 10 million over two years starting in the 2026-2027 fiscal year to ensure smooth implementation. Subsequently, an annual fee of approximately CAD 5 million is expected to be borne by stablecoin issuers regulated under the Retail Payment Activities Act.
