[Retail Favorites Index Posts Largest Drop Since Trump's Tariff Day]
Jin10 Data, November 5 — For short-term traders flocking to buy the hottest stocks, Tuesday marked the worst day since the chaos triggered by Trump's trade war in April. Following Palantir's disappointing earnings report and "The Big Short" protagonist Michael Burry's disclosure of short positions against Palantir and Nvidia, the Retail Favorites Index was hit particularly hard by sell-offs.
The index, compiled by Goldman Sachs, consists of a basket of stocks heavily held by non-professional traders, including Palantir and Tesla. This, coupled with Bitcoin's sharp decline, added pressure on individual investors, causing the index to drop 3.6%, approximately three times the decline of the S&P 500 Index. It marked the largest drop since April 10, when the stock market plunged over concerns about Trump's tariff measures.
