x402 Facilitators have already processed over $10 million in payments, but at the same time, competition is getting fiercer, with nearly 15 players now diving into the direction of x402 transactions on-chain.
There are now 6 x402 Facilitators that have processed over $100,000 in payments. Brands like Daydreams and X402rs are rising quickly, having already processed over $400,000 in payments and more than 500,000 transactions. The main reason is still that the technical barrier for x402 Facilitators is relatively low, making them easier to replace.
It seems that Facilitators can’t just be Facilitators anymore, because on the user side (AI Agents/developers/end users), theoretically, they can choose which Facilitator to use for processing payment transactions. So, competition might ultimately come down to the source — the pre-configuration of AI Agents, which determines the default connection to a specific Facilitator or optimally selects one based on certain conditions like fees, speed, or chain support. Does this mean it all circles back to the AI Agents Framework in the end?
