[Ministry of Commerce: China and the U.S. to Simultaneously Suspend Certain Tariffs and Control Measures for One Year] BlockBeats News, October 30 – A spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce responded to questions from reporters regarding the joint arrangements for China-U.S. economic and trade consultations in Kuala Lumpur. The spokesperson stated: The U.S. will cancel the so-called 'fentanyl tariffs' of 10% imposed on Chinese goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region). The 24% reciprocal tariffs imposed on Chinese goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region) will continue to be suspended for one year. China will make corresponding adjustments to its countermeasures against the aforementioned U.S. tariffs. Both sides agreed to extend certain tariff exemption measures. The U.S. will suspend the implementation of its 50% penetration rule for export controls announced on September 29 for one year. China will suspend the implementation of related export control measures announced on October 9 for one year and will study and refine specific plans. The U.S. will suspend the implementation of its Section 301 investigation measures targeting China's maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding industries for one year. After the U.S. suspends the relevant measures, China will also correspondingly suspend its countermeasures against the U.S. for one year. (Jin10)
