X402 — A Revenge from IQ100
In this bull run, IQ100 has been battered and bruised.
By IQ100, I mean people like me — rational, analytical types with backgrounds in science and engineering. We believe in fundamentals, in data, and we carry a touch of idealism. When we entered the crypto world, we believed in decentralization, in vision, and in the idea that our tiny efforts could help change the world. We cared deeply about whether a token had real utility, whether a project truly mattered.
Back in the last DeFi cycle, we did well — because we genuinely believed DeFi could transform the world. For the first time, blockchain found real applications beyond just conferences and fancy dinners. We threw ourselves into DeFi research: reading docs, analyzing tokenomics, crunching numbers, studying fundamentals. There was so much to learn and evaluate. Even when some tracks ended badly — like algorithmic stablecoins — we still held onto hope, striving to create something new. Failure wasn’t frightening; failed projects or sectors weren’t the end. Each setback offered lessons and experience — inevitable steps toward success. After all, life is a wilderness, not a railway track. You must hit countless dead ends before finding the right path.
But in this bull run, the world has changed — and perhaps, we’ve aged.
No one reads docs anymore. No one analyzes projects. No one believes in technology changing the world. Instead, everyone is obsessed with memes, trying to build faith in them — castles made of sand. People chase influencers and KOLs, waiting to see what coins they’ll tweet about next. They no longer study; they “scan charts.” They “CTO.” They eagerly join one conspiracy group after another, searching for scraps of insider clues.
The IQ150 and IQ50 crowd are having the time of their lives, chasing and shilling each other’s bags. But we — the IQ100s — feel like old men trying to hitchhike on a highway. Cars whiz past, one after another. We panic, trying to jump on, but we can’t keep up. We watch countless crashes, never understanding why one meme coin is suddenly worth hundreds of millions — and just as suddenly goes to zero.
This market feels so alien now.
Then came X402 — not an entirely new technology, but a possible way to shape the future. A market with boundless imagination and potential. Suddenly, I saw my IQ100 comrades return. This was their home turf — a familiar narrative. A sector with real fundamentals, real data, and enormous growth potential. Here, we could finally believe again that we were investing in the future, not just speculating.
Whether the sector thrives or fails, whether projects succeed or not — it no longer matters as much. If we make money, great. If we lose money, so be it — at least it was spent on building the future. At least our money didn’t end up lining the pockets of some influencer or shadowy group.
Because the meaning of a journey is not about when you reach your destination — but the journey itself.(Jayson𐤊)
