Vitalik: Prediction markets are becoming a new type of information medium, and security remains a key issue for AI Agent development. At the ETHShanghai 2025 main forum, Xiao Feng, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wanxiang Holdings, Chairman of Wanxiang Blockchain, and Chairman and CEO of HashKey Group, had an in-depth discussion with Ethereum co-founder @VitalikButerin on three topics: AI, prediction markets, and ZK ID. Vitalik mentioned that during the U.S. elections, many people participated in predictions through Polymarket, which in itself was a success. Traditional media and social media may struggle to determine the importance of events, but prediction markets can reflect reality more quickly through price signals, making them a new type of information medium. Prediction markets are not only applicable to major events but, with the support of AI, can also make accurate predictions about smaller events. In the future, the combination of AI and prediction markets will make predictions more mainstream and intelligent. Regarding the AI space, Vitalik suggested that blockchain defines the rules of the game, while AI can act as a participant. With the rise of AI Agents, they can issue tokens autonomously, participate in applications and governance, and open up vast experimental possibilities. Moving forward, we should think about how to empower ecosystem development. However, he emphasized that AI should not replace humans but serve as a tool for humans. Security remains a critical issue, including the risk of Agents being hacked. He further mentioned the potential of ZK ID (Zero-Knowledge Identity) in preventing AI abuse. ZK ID can help distinguish between humans and bots, and while protecting privacy, it can also support the development of areas like low-risk DeFi.
