[Director of Korea Customs Service: Considering Establishing a Virtual Asset Analysis Department at Seoul Customs] According to a report by Jinse Finance, Lee Myung-koo, Director of the Korea Customs Service, stated on the 21st: 'We are considering establishing a virtual asset analysis department at Seoul Customs, and will allocate specialized personnel and enhance analytical capabilities in this field.' Director Lee made this statement during the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee's state audit, saying: 'In the past, illegal underground currency exchanges were primarily conducted through foreign exchange, but now they have evolved into methods of illegal fund transfers using virtual assets.' Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen regulatory and analytical capabilities. Regarding concerns about the increasing phenomenon of "circumventing exports," where some companies disguise the origin of foreign goods as Korean-made to evade U.S. tariff policies, Director Lee responded: 'Currently, manpower in this area remains insufficient,' and stated, 'To address this properly, we will reallocate personnel, consider increasing staff if necessary, and continue to collaborate with relevant departments to advance related work.'
