[CCTV Exposes Details of the Special Case Involving the Guogan Wei Family: Using Concepts Like 'Blockchain Projects' as Financial Camouflage to Commit Fraud]
The official WeChat account of CCTV published an article exposing details of the special case involving the criminal group of the Wei family in Kokang, northern Myanmar. The report revealed that the Wei family's criminal group utilized their Weisheng compound to engage in telecom fraud under the guise of so-called 'financial investment and wealth management' technologies. They employed concepts such as 'trust funds' or 'blockchain projects' as financial camouflage to carry out fraudulent activities.
According to reports, investigators learned that with the support of fraud technologies, a single betting operation could yield profits exceeding hundreds of millions of yuan. "Tens of millions in Myanmar is considered a small operation," said Zhang Hanyi, Deputy Director of the Quanzhou Public Security Bureau in Fujian Province. He further stated that the confirmed amount of fraud involved in the case is close to 6 billion yuan, while the turnover from operating casinos is approximately 10 billion yuan. "What has been uncovered so far is only a portion; it's impossible to fully investigate due to objective limitations abroad," he added.
