According to the official blog, the Web3 Foundation (W3F) announced that starting today, it will selectively participate in treasury proposal voting within Polkadot's OpenGov system. W3F stated that with the increasing number and scale of proposals, this move aims to contribute additional due diligence and transparency to treasury governance.
Its primary objectives include: protecting treasury funds by voting against proposals with unclear milestones or value; enhancing community confidence through clear and consistent voting standards; and serving as a balancing force to oppose short-term or opportunistic proposals.
The Web3 Foundation has pledged to uphold the principle of "complete transparency" by providing public explanations for every vote. Additionally, the foundation will avoid voting on proposals where conflicts of interest exist and will generally wait for initial community feedback before casting its vote. Meanwhile, its "Decentralized Voices" program, which delegates voting power to community members, will continue to operate in parallel.
