OpenAI CEO: 'Superintelligence' May Emerge by the End of This Decade

According to a report by Politico via Jinse Finance, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated in a media interview that 'superintelligence' might emerge by the end of this century. When asked when superintelligence, which surpasses humans in all aspects, might appear, Altman said: 'I expect the trajectory of AI capability improvement to remain extremely steep. In a few years, AI will likely be able to make scientific discoveries that humans cannot achieve alone. For me, that will start to feel appropriately termed as superintelligence. It’s difficult to predict exactly which year or month it will appear. But I would certainly say that by the end of this decade, by 2030, if we don’t have those extremely powerful models capable of accomplishing things we ourselves cannot do, I would be very surprised.'
