The incident occurred in 2022, when the victim, A.T., was forcibly taken at gunpoint in Thornhill, subjected to assault, burns, and sexual assault, and was demanded to pay a Bitcoin ransom. A.T. eventually escaped and reported to the police. Another minor accomplice, S.M., has been convicted, with sentencing scheduled for October 3. The court has issued an order to protect the victim's identity.
