[Hong Kong Police Receive ETH Investment Fraud Case, Victim Loses HK$26.2 Million]
According to Hong Kong media outlet ON.CC, the Hong Kong police received a report from a 75-year-old local man, stating that he had earlier received a phone call from someone claiming to be a virtual currency investment expert. The caller persuaded the victim to invest in the virtual currency ETH with promises of high returns. Following the instructions, the victim transferred a total of approximately HK$26.2 million worth of virtual currency into six accounts over 19 transactions between July 11 and September 9. The Hong Kong police stated that the case has been classified as obtaining property by deception and has been handed over to the Wan Chai District Crime Investigation Team Unit 9 for follow-up. No arrests have been made so far.
