I have just spoken with the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. I first thanked him for the excellent cooperation that led to the arrest of one of the main perpetrators of the horrific terrorist attack on Rue des Rosiers. We agreed to work together to secure his extradition as swiftly as possible. Given the extreme urgency of the situation in Gaza and across the Palestinian territories, I reiterated to President Abbas my intention to recognize the State of Palestine on Monday in New York. This recognition is part of a comprehensive peace plan for the region, aimed at meeting the aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians for security and peace. I also restated our demands on the Palestinian Authority. In this regard, President Abbas reaffirmed his determination to implement the necessary reforms to renew Palestinian governance and address the challenges of stabilizing the future Palestinian State. France will continue to stand alongside the Palestinian authorities on this path. We will ensure that these commitments are upheld, for the security and stability of the entire region.(Emmanuel Macron)
