[Coinbase Urges U.S. Department of Justice to Limit State-Level Cryptocurrency Enforcement Actions] According to a report by Jinse Finance, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is escalating its conflict with state regulators. After federal regulators dropped a case against the exchange earlier this year, Coinbase has sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) requesting intervention. In a 14-page letter sent on Monday, Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal argued that the DOJ should push Congress to pass a comprehensive federal preemption law to prevent states from taking enforcement actions against digital assets regulated under federal law. Grewal stated on social platform X: "When the state of Oregon can sue us over services that are lawful under federal law, something is clearly wrong." He described the current state-level enforcement as "government overreach."
