Let me talk about the logic behind buying XCAT and XRABBIT at the time.
This involves how to capitalize on the surrounding opportunities (Beta) after missing the leader (Alpha).
That day, when my withdrawal arrived, XDOG was already at 32M. I had been watching it climb from 15M to 32M and just couldn’t bring myself to buy in, so I started looking for Beta plays.
In Xu Mingxing’s tweet, there were only three IPs mentioned: the directly retweeted XDOG, which is definitely the leader; and the explicitly mentioned XCAT and XRABBIT, which would naturally attract enough attention. At the time, XRABBIT had just launched, and when I saw it at a 50k market cap, I bought a little.
MEME is an attention economy, and many times it follows the principle of “what you see is what you get.” That’s why even negative information in the original tweet can often gain traction.
This isn’t a call to buy, just sharing how to find Beta opportunities after missing the Alpha leader.
Still sticking to the same strategy: in every hype event, we need to secure our own results.
The ideal outcome in a hype event is to catch the leader’s main rally (Alpha).
The secondary outcome is to capitalize on the spillover sentiment or similar names on different chains (Beta-focused, mainly depending on how strong the FOMO around the leader is).
The least favorable outcome is to short the leader when it peaks and starts to drop (this is more about salvaging some dignity—participation matters ).
