The SEC announced that James Maloney, a partner at Gibson Dunn, will assume the role of Director of the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance starting next month. Maloney previously served at the SEC from 1994 to 2000, where he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions as well as matters related to the Division of Corporation Finance. The Division of Corporation Finance reviews financial reports submitted by companies to ensure they adequately disclose potential risks to investors. The division also issues guidance on compliance with SEC regulations, such as executive compensation disclosures or reporting requirements for non-GAAP earnings metrics.
