**[Robinhood Markets Added to S&P 500 Index]** Retail brokerage firm Robinhood Markets, which gained fame during the meme stock frenzy, has become one of the newest constituents of the S&P 500 Index. S&P Dow Jones Indices announced last Friday that the company, along with AppLovin and Emcor Group, will be included in the benchmark index starting September 22. This marks a milestone for the trading and investment company; Robinhood's business has expanded beyond YOLO stock trading and cryptocurrency bets to include other areas such as credit cards and wealth management. Being added to the S&P 500 Index brings prestige to a company and typically boosts its stock price, as funds tracking the index are required to purchase shares to rebalance their portfolios. To qualify for inclusion, a company must have a market capitalization of at least $22.7 billion, among other criteria, with the final decision on which stocks are selected made by a committee. Robinhood's market capitalization is approximately $90 billion. (Source: Sina Finance)
