FYI new scam going around targeting investors and crypto people.
Accounts claiming to be video editors say you're in a podcast and ask if you want to review it first, offering to send you an MP4 (likely with malware payload)
Rule of thumb:
1) No editor would ever send you a dumb picture of a timeline edit. Why is that useful if you aren't trying to 'prove' you're real in advanced?
2) No one 'mentioning' you in a podcast checks with you before posting it, even if you're interviewed. (And especially a dumbass like Pomp)
3) If you did need to approve something, no credible editor is sending you an MP4, they've all got cloud hosted tools you could easily do playback on.
Remember most scams, either try to offer you opportunity, or concern to get you to take action.
Opportunity can be jobs, investments, interviews, press reach.
Concern can be like "oh god wtf did they say" or "what is this document with a scary headline" or "why are they mentioning me in this podcast"
Always be wary.
If you do have to open files locally have a dedicated junk laptop for opening files - not your main system.
Watch out for people who try to prove themselves when not asked for proof.
And remember, no one really cares enough about you to check with you on things, or throw an opportunity in your lap randomly. That's nearly always scams!(Adam Cochran (adamscochran.eth))
