Study @ GOATRollup Economic White Paper GOAT Network Economic Beigepaper 2.0 Personal learning summary, shared with friends.. @GOATRollup Goals and Motivation The Rollup of the Bitcoin ecosystem has flaws in its economic design: 1. Lack of clear incentive models (sorter, prover, publisher, challenger). 2. The Peg out delay is long (about two weeks), resulting in low fund efficiency. 3. Challengers lack incentive and punishment mechanisms, weakening security. @GOATRollup introduces role rotation and cross subsidization through PoS staking mechanism and BitVM2, avoiding long-term monopoly benefits or cost sharing by a single participant, thus achieving a fairer and more decentralized economic model. core design 1. Unified role as "universal operator" All operators are required to pledge tokens and take turns serving as Sequencer, Prover, Publisher, and Challenger in different rounds. Benefits: Cost and benefit sharing (sequencers have fee income, validators have computational costs, and rotation can subsidize each other). Lowering the entry threshold to allow small nodes to participate as well. Avoid centralization and ensure network redundancy and robustness. 2. Role rotation mechanism Random or staking weights determine allocation, with frequent rotation (even for each block). Benefits: Avoid long-term monopoly of MEV by a single sequencer. Ensure fairness, credibility, and neutrality. If a node drops, it will be immediately replaced in the next round without blocking the system. 3. Multi round Challenge mechanism No longer relying on parallel verification of all challengers, but randomly assigning challengers in order, checking round by round. Each challenger needs to pledge BTC, and if they are negligent or malicious, their deposit will be confiscated. Advantage: Avoid redundant calculations and waste. Reduce the problem of lack of motivation among challengers (assignees must check, otherwise they will be penalized). Shorten the final confirmation time (from the traditional optimistic Rollup of 2 weeks to 1 day or even faster). Improve security: Multiple rounds of random selection almost guarantee that at least one honest challenger will detect fraud. 4. Incentive and Anti Bribery Design All operators are required to pledge, and malicious actions will result in mandatory reduction of pledge. Honest behavior (block production, verification, challenge) earns transaction fees and rewards. Bribery attacks are difficult to establish: Challengers are randomly assigned, and attackers cannot know in advance who the target is. If the challenger accepts bribes, the loss will be greater than the profit (the deposit will be confiscated). False challenges will be directly punished. In the end @Enhanced BitVM2 Economic Design of GOATRollup: The core innovation is role rotation+cost cross subsidy+multi round challenge mechanism. Avoiding the problems of centralization and excessive cost concentration. Accelerate withdrawal and final confirmation to enhance user experience. By using pledge and punishment mechanisms, honesty becomes the optimal strategy for participants. Implemented a more fair, decentralized, and sustainable Bitcoin native zkRollup economic model. Essentially, this is an economic flywheel: Honest operators → Rewards → More participants joining → Safer and more efficient network → Improved user experience → Attracting more usage and revenue → Continuing to give back to operators.
