In crypto, you’re usually one of two types of traders: 1. Meta Hopper (jumps from trend to trend). ✅ Always in action ✅ Tools stay sharp ✅ Potential for outsize returns if you catch the right narrative ❌ Burnout risk ❌ Spread too thin, edge diminishes ❌ Risk of over-rotating for short-term dopamine 2. The Specialist (stays in their lane, focuses on one edge, waits for it to play out). ✅ Narrow focus → deeper edge ✅ Less chop between trades ✅ Consistently +EV when trade finally comes ❌ A lot of patience required ❌ Can feel disengaging while waiting ❌ Risk of rust if tools aren’t kept sharp The best part is - you don’t NEED to pick one camp. I personally run a hybrid. For example: 20% of your portfolio chasing hot metas (to stay engaged/sharp), 80% sticking to your edge. Best of both worlds. Just don't get lost in the middle.(Miles Deutscher)
