Blockchain gaming isn't dead. It's missing a foundation to build quality games on.
@Somnia_Network aims to build the rails for vastly more complex apps like games to come onchain.
A core challenge holding back mainstream adoption is the lack of entertaining products and infrastructure.
Issues like network congestion, unpredictable gas fees, poor user experience, and security vulnerabilities have long plagued titles that exist today.
Somnia is building an EVM-compatible network designed to handle the unique demands of onchain gaming and mass market consumer applications.
Many blockchains use parallelization to achieve scale. However, this creates state contention: when multiple transactions try to alter the same on-chain asset (e.g., an in-game item) simultaneously.
The system then struggles to order these conflicts which undermines the goal of scalability.
Somnia sidesteps this problem with Accelerated Sequential Execution. Instead of managing a complex multi-lane highway, it uses a single, hyper-fast lane.
By translating EVM bytecode directly into native code, it processes transactions one by one, simplifying development and dramatically increasing speed.
Somnia's architecture also includes:
• Multi-Stream Consensus: Allows for sub-second block certainty and massive transaction throughput, providing near-instant finality for Web3 games.
• Advanced Data Compression: Increases the amount of data transferred between nodes by a factor of 10-20x, ensuring network efficiency even under heavy loads.
• IceDB: A custom-built database that achieves read/write speeds of 70-100 nanoseconds, reducing transaction costs to sub-cent levels and making high-frequency actions economically viable.
This enable Somnia to process over 1M TPS with sub-second finality, enabling a new generation of blockchain applications that can achieve scales that were previously impossible.
This infrastructure enables entirely new kinds of on-chain experiences.
For example, Somnia's ability to process vast amounts of live data from a game like kills and assists pave the way for verifiable, real-time prediction markets built directly on top of gameplay.
Somnia has already attracted over 70 partners across web3 including game studios like Sparkball, Variance, and Maelstrom along with key infrastructure providers such as Layerzero, Sequence, Thirdweb, and DIA.
Somnia is building the critical infrastructure necessary for apps to dominate in traditional markets without restricting what they put onchain.(Delphi Digital)
