The key to being in media isn’t about your track record, but understanding social dynamics.
Is content the most important? Is performance the most important? Nope, building relationships is the *most* important.
I’ve never been one to suck up to people. I just do my thing—whatever it is. Anyway, I make money trading, and doing media now is just to satisfy my urge to share.
But media makes money off traffic, so how do you get the most traffic? Honestly, it’s through networking and sucking up to people—that’s how you get the biggest flow.
Before I came over from Weibo, there were people who wanted to help me out, like secretly transferring active followers from all the crypto bloggers on the platform to me, so those fans would automatically follow me. But I didn’t need to make money off that, so I didn’t do it. Since last year, my account has been completely shadowbanned, and this year it even got shut down.
Of course, it’s the same with crypto content platforms. The closer you are to the platform staff, the better resources you’ll get. Whether your track record is solid doesn’t really matter, and whether you’ve scammed people before doesn’t matter either. The key is knowing how to play the game—suck up to the platform staff so they’re willing to support you. They’ll include you in all the traffic-boosting activities and push your content. Even if what you post is garbage, they’ll still recommend it to the homepage for everyone to see.
And no, this isn’t corruption—it’s just normal “operations” work.
So, sucking up is the ultimate shortcut to making content.
I’m willing to stick with Twitter because there’s no Chinese-language operations team here. I can guarantee that all my 100k followers are real—they clicked follow one by one. I don’t want to collaborate with this or that to blow up my traffic. People follow me for my trading skills. If no one watches me, it means my trading skills aren’t good enough—not that I’m bad at selling out.
Hopefully, I didn’t offend anyone—I like speaking the truth. If I could lower myself to suck up to people, I probably could’ve gotten rich five years earlier. Instead, I’m still grinding away at trading like this.
