[Meta Freezes Hiring for New Superintelligence Division]
According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal, after spending several months recruiting over 50 artificial intelligence researchers and engineers, Meta Platforms (META.O) has frozen hiring for its AI division. The hiring freeze took effect last week, coinciding with a broader restructuring within the division. The measure also prohibits existing employees from transferring between teams within the division. The duration of the hiring freeze has not been communicated internally. Sources indicate that external hiring may have exceptions, but this would require approval from Meta's Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang. A Meta spokesperson confirmed the hiring freeze, stating that it is part of "basic organizational planning: establishing a solid structure for our new superintelligence project after staffing, and conducting annual budgeting and planning work.
