The zkvm team behind the boundless @ boundless_xyz protocol, RISC Zero, is building a real-time proof cluster. At the same time, the previously shared zkvm and zkmips projects have launched real-time proofs on the BTC layer 2 project GOAT Network @ GOATRollup. Real time zk proof will be a new important feature in zk trends. Everyone is competing to achieve real-time verification. The technical goal of boundless RISC Zero team is: -Hardware investment of approximately $120000 (to maintain controllable hardware costs and ensure decentralized metrics) -The performance model predicts an end-to-end proof generation time of approximately 9.25 seconds Why are these two indicators important: -The Ethereum Foundation (EF) roadmap includes proof generation functionality in block proposals. If closed source mining machines worth millions of dollars can keep up, Ethereum will soon become centralized. Accessibility is the key to decentralization -Ethereum can only adopt zero knowledge proof at layer L1 when the validity proof of the block arrives within the same 12 second time period in which the block was proposed. Real time verification can unlock: -100-1000x gas limit: Due to the fact that proofs can be verified within a constant time, regardless of the size of the proved computation, Ethereum no longer needs to limit the gas size. -Synchronized composability across Rollup: The main pain point of Rollup is managing interoperability between chains. The real-time proof function achieves atomic composability between Rollups. -Safer lightweight clients: Currently, lightweight clients check validator signatures, but do not actually check the validity of EVM status updates. By using RTP (Real Time Proof), lightweight clients can confirm the integrity of status updates without the need to trust validators.
