As I continue to visit communities across Jamaica, I hear your concerns. You want water in your homes and on your farms; you want roads that take you to your houses and to your fields. These are fundamental to your dignity and livelihood.
However, no Member of Parliament can fix roads or deliver water on their own. These improvements require a strong, stable economy, one that generates the revenue to invest in infrastructure and essential services.
Ten years ago, it was difficult to have this conversation. Many people felt that talk about the economy was disconnected from their daily struggles. But today, more and more Jamaicans understand that good roads, functioning water systems, reliable garbage collection, access to school buses and healthcare, all of it depends on a well-managed economy.(Andrew Holness)
