John Tizard wants to raise the budget of Bedfordshire’s Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) to £2.7 million. This includes a £70K communications manager and a chief executive on £115K. Let's be clear, the OPCC is a political office, staffed with admin, PR and strategy people, not frontline officers. The OPCC doesn't put police on the streets. It doesn’t solve crime. It doesn’t arrest anyone. It exists to support a political appointee with a press team and policy advisers. Tizard is an idiot. Policing should be run by operational professionals.
