According to Cointelegraph, the smart contract and asset issuance system RGB Protocol has announced its launch on the Bitcoin mainnet, enabling tokenization of assets such as stablecoins, NFTs, and custom tokens within the Bitcoin ecosystem. This protocol adopts a client-side verification mechanism to store asset data off chain and anchor proof through Bitcoin transactions, achieving privacy protection while maintaining decentralization. The RGB Protocol Association was established on the same day, with members including organizations such as Bitfinex and Fulgur Ventures. The CEO of Boosty Labs revealed that USDT will become the first stablecoin to run on the Bitcoin network based on the RGB Protocol, and users can achieve fast and low-cost transfers through the Lightning Network. The protocol also supports building DeFi applications compatible with EVM, and a developer funding program will be launched in the future.
