Based/native rollups are currently the highest priority items in Ethereum, far surpassing L1 scaling. The Ethereum Foundation needs a true soulmate, not just a formidable talent lineup to solve urgent matters. A soulful figure needs to have decisive appeal, focus on the most important things, and be a 'bad person' rather than a 'good person' praised by the short-term market. Decentralization, permissionless and trustworthy are the foundation, but it also requires leaves to absorb sunlight to make the roots deeper and more lush.
