Chris is correct. We must expand the reach of investment opportunities to those who’ve been excluded by bureaucratic nanny-like government protection. Take the Accredited Investor Rule for example. You can serve in the United States Military for 20 years, risking your life but you can’t own private equity. In 1980 MA regulators decided that they needed to protect retail investors from even owing a risky new stock, despite it becoming a publicly traded company through an IPO. Only stock brokers, hedge funds and rich folks were allowed to buy the new stock in MA. MA regulators “Protected” retail. That company was @Apple and 1K invested in 1980 would be over 1.5M today. I’d like to say GFY to the regulators who protected regular people from wealth.
