There are many projects discussing BTC L2 now, but to be honest, only GOAT Network @ GOATRollup is currently working on achieving both "Bitcoin Origin" and "On Chain Sustainable Revenue", and the direction is quite clear.
The biggest problem with the Bitcoin ecosystem in the past was having a lot of funds, but not being able to use them. You can lay flat, mortgage, and exchange BTC for other BTCFI packaging coins, but you cannot directly run contracts on BTC, generate native returns, or have complex structured assets. So in recent years, the vast majority of "BTCFi" narratives have either stopped at the stage of packaging coins, or become another EVM's copy of riding traffic, without taking a new path.
GOAT Network's approach can be considered a relatively different route recently seen. It did not intend to play BTC on other chains, but instead developed a complete set of native Bitcoin Rollup architecture - the core is BitVM route+ZK technology+modular verification.
It's not just about creating a small bridge or swap, it's about delivering Rollup directly as a product, with a focus on the implementation logic.
For example, the recently released BitVM3 upgrade plan is an attempt to break through the logic of technical details.
Previously, BitVM was difficult to scale up due to heavy and slow on chain validation. GOAT solved this problem by using a "label forward propagation"+modular approach, allowing ZK validators to run in parallel and significantly reducing node pressure.
To put it simply, BitVM used to be a concept, but now it can be used. And GOAT still treats this as an underlying protocol, rather than a demo.
What's even more interesting is that they not only focus on technology, but also work on the profit path of BTCFi.
There are a few points that I value about GOAT:
one ️⃣ Technology is really advancing, not speculating on the BitVM concept
two ️⃣ Do it yourself on the application side, don't rely on the ecosystem, start your own business
three ️⃣ Behind it, there are first tier VC bets such as OKX, Amber, Crypto, etc
four ️⃣ FDV has already been anchored in the secondary market, with high certainty in the early stage
Summary in one sentence:
What GOAT wants to do is to make Bitcoin not just "store", but "earn", and do it in a native way on the chain.
If this path is taken, BTC will not be as simple as "digital gold", but a "on chain asset" that can run, has structure, cash flow, and application ecology.
