I met with Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen @Statsmin, President of the European Council António Costa @eucopresident, and President of the European Commission Ursula @vonderleyen on the occasion of Denmark’s assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. We discussed our European integration and the opening of negotiating clusters. We are definitely ready to open the first one already, and this year we will be ready for all the rest. We count on this becoming a shared achievement under Denmark’s presidency. We also discussed pressure on Russia and the EU’s 18th sanctions package, the continuation of military assistance to Ukraine with a focus on joint defense production, and the SAFE program. We are actively working to make all of this a reality – and we know what decisions are needed. I thank Denmark and the European Union for their strong and consistent support. Together, we defend lives and bring peace closer. We value our friendship and partnership.
