Carib Cement has invested 7 billion into its latest project, a modern, energy-efficient kiln at its Rockfort plant. This is a significant investment in Jamaica, our people, our economy, and our future. Carib Cement’s decision to expand operations here reflects a deep and growing confidence in Jamaica. Confidence in the talent of our workforce, the strength of our institutions, and the direction our country is heading. The new kiln, which operates at over 1,000°C, allows for more efficient cement production while reducing emissions and recycling waste like old tires. It supports more stable prices, strengthens local supply, and reduces our reliance on imports. But most importantly, it creates meaningful, high-skilled jobs for Jamaicans in fields like engineering, technology, and sustainable manufacturing. Carib Cement’s 7-billion-dollar investment is yet another demonstration of the fact that Jamaica is worth this level of faith and commitment. A strong, stable economy matters. It matters for the quality of life you want to have. It matters for the growth and development of our country. It matters for the roads you drive on, the water that runs through your pipes, the electricity that powers your home. It matters for the infrastructure in your community, and for the future you’re trying to build. Because when the economy grows, everything else becomes possible. And when people believe in Jamaica, it means there’s something here worth believing in.
