Canada and the Netherlands have been close friends for a very long time. With the G7 summit just over, and the #natosummit now under way, Prime Minister @MarkJCarney and I were able to compare notes on hosting a major international event. We also discussed our countries’ plans to invest more in security and defence, partly with an eye to the new NATOtarget. The Netherlands appreciates Canada’s steadfast support for Ukraine and we’re working together to help achieve a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.   We also discussed new opportunities for increasing our already close economic cooperation, for instance in areas such as defence, critical raw materials and sustainable energy.
