Kaspersky: A new Trojan spy program called SparkKitty infiltrates app stores, targeting mnemonic words and photos of wallet credentials

Foresight News|Jun 24, 2025 12:12
According to Foresight News, cybersecurity firm Kaspersky researchers have announced that a new mobile spyware called SparkKitty has infiltrated the App Store and Google Play App Store, targeting mnemonic words and photos of wallet credentials. SparkKitty is the successor to SparkCat, which uses modified frameworks and libraries to steal sensitive data from iOS and Android devices. SparkCat was first discovered in early 2025 as an activity that secretly accessed user libraries and stole sensitive screenshots using fake chat support modules. Despite being removed from the app store, malicious software activities may still continue through sideloading variants and clone stores, posing a global threat.
