According to a report by Golden Finance, a key Republican negotiator has stated that Republican senators are considering setting a $30000 cap on state and local tax (SALT) credits as a compromise between the current law and the more generous limits of the House version of Trump's tax law. Moderate Republican Senator Tom Tillis, who participated in the negotiations, said that Republican senators are trying to lower the $40000 SALT cap passed by the House of Representatives to at least $30000.
