According to the official blog, stablecoin issuer Tether announced a strategic investment in African blockchain finance platform Shiga Digital, but the specific amount has not been disclosed. The cooperation aims to provide on chain financial services such as cross-border payments and foreign exchange management for African enterprises through USDT stablecoins, with a focus on covering the international settlement needs of traditional industries such as oil and gas and freelancers. Shiga Digital provides customized services such as virtual accounts and over-the-counter trading. Its developing blockchain gateway will support users to directly use USDT for daily transactions without the need to exchange local currency. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that this collaboration will drive blockchain technology to become a core component of Africa's financial infrastructure.
