Elon Musk: When we founded SpaceX, we knew nothing about rockets. At first, we knew nothing about rockets, and the first three Falcon 1 launch missions all failed, almost bankrupting us. We barely made it through the fourth launch - if it fails, the company will have to go bankrupt. I wasn't an outstanding chief engineer in the early days, but over time, I kept learning and now our spacecraft is reliable enough to send astronauts to Mars. Our long-term goal is to enable anyone who wants to go to Mars to establish a self-sufficient civilization there and achieve multi planet life.
