Apple plans to launch AI smart glasses by the end of 2026, abandoning the camera watch project

According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to release a smart glasses by the end of 2026, equipped with a camera, microphone, and speaker, and capable of executing voice commands through Siri. This device will have functions such as analyzing the environment, making phone calls, playing music, real-time translation and navigation, and is considered a benchmark product for Meta Ray Ban smart glasses. At the same time, Apple has cancelled the planned release of the camera equipped Apple Watch and Apple Watch Ultra in 2027, but is still developing AirPods with cameras. According to reports, Apple's ultimate goal is to develop glasses products with augmented reality (AR) display capabilities, but such devices will still take several years.
The project is led by Vision Products Group, which develops the Vision Pro headset, and is currently simultaneously advancing the lightweight and Mac connected version of the headset. Apple also plans to launch its first foldable screen phone by the end of 2026 and open its big language model API to promote the construction of the App Store AI ecosystem.
