Slow Mist founder Cosine claimed that a "fake Ledger" scam has recently reappeared, where attackers mail fake Ledger devices to users and attach fake instructions, guiding them to input mnemonic words from the real Ledger into the fake application, resulting in asset theft. This attack method has been reported as early as 2021, and there are also variants that use pre-set mnemonics or tamper with random number generators to commit fraud. Experts remind that although such physical phishing attacks may seem rare, the success rate is not low, and the targets are mostly high net worth users.
