Recently, I met with Mr. Steven Kobos, President and CEO of @excelerateenergy, as the company officially took over the operations of New Fortress Energy in Jamaica. This transition marks a pivotal moment in our country’s energy journey, as we welcome a new partner committed to building on the strong foundation laid since the introduction of LNG in 2016.
Energy security remains a national priority. It underpins our economic growth, strengthens resilience, and ensures Jamaicans have access to cleaner, more affordable, and reliable power. With the Montego Bay and Old Harbour LNG terminals and the Clarendon combined heat and power plant now under Excelerate’s leadership, we are confident in the continuity of service and the potential for even greater innovation and investment.
I thank New Fortress Energy for their groundbreaking contributions to Jamaica’s energy landscape and welcome Excelerate’s commitment to supporting our national development agenda. We look forward to a strong and productive partnership in the years ahead.
