Ethereum researcher Justin Drake stated in an interview that a 51% attack on Bitcoin is much cheaper than attacking Ethereum, with an estimated cost of around $10 billion. Ethereum, on the other hand, needs to control over 50% of its staking ETH (currently worth around $44.8 billion) due to its PoS mechanism, and price fluctuations may further increase costs. Drake emphasized that Ethereum's community social coordination mechanism can identify and "socially punish" attackers, which is the advantage of PoS over PoW.
