According to the Financial Times, US President Trump stated on Friday during a meeting with business executives in the UAE that the US may unilaterally set new tariff rates for many trading partners instead of reaching agreements with all trading partners. Washington will impose new tariffs in the next two to three weeks. Trump added that Treasury Secretary Bessent and Commerce Secretary Lutnik will "send letters, basically telling people how much they need to pay to do business in the United States. Trump said that although "150 countries" hope to reach an agreement, "it is impossible to meet with all countries".
