Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has vetoed a bill aimed at establishing a state-level Bitcoin reserve (SB 1025). The bill was originally intended to invest the seized funds in Bitcoin and have the state government manage digital asset reserves. It was previously passed by the state House of Representatives with a vote of 31 to 25. Hobbs stated in a statement that the Arizona retirement system has performed robustly due to its prudent investments, and the state government should not include "unverified investments" such as virtual currencies in public asset management.
