I would not want to hold ADRs right now. While I think this is full of hot air from the US side, I could absolutely see China deciding to seize foreign held Chinese stocks as punishment. In the past when Chinese corporate bond debt has had issues they’ve prioritized mainland holdings and zero’d out offshore held ones. Could easily escalate to see the same here.
