Today, Citrea announced the launch of the Citrea test network on Bitcoin Testnet4. This marks a significant advancement for Bitcoin as a settlement layer, laying the foundation for a global decentralized, self-sovereign financial ecosystem. The Citrea test network opens a new era for developers and users, in which the functionality of using Bitcoin does not require sacrificing their self-sovereignty. What does the Citrea test network include?

The Citrea test network includes an almost complete version of Clementine, which is Citrea's trust-minimized bridging design based on BitVM, and tests key bridging infrastructure such as detecting malicious operators, coordinating pre-signing, and operator-based withdrawals. The final task is to implement fraud proofs using BitVM, which is currently in progress, and the team continues to contribute to the open-source BitVM repository.
