[U.S. CFTC Warns of Surge in Crypto ATM Scams, Losses to Exceed $388 Million by 2025]
The official X account of the U.S. CFTC posted that scammers are increasingly using crypto ATMs, gift cards, unfamiliar apps, and courier delivery methods to trick victims into transferring funds. FBI data shows that losses reported from crypto ATM-related scams will exceed $388 million by 2025, a year-on-year increase of 58%. The CFTC reminds the public that government agencies, legitimate financial institutions, or trusted companies will not ask users to transfer funds via crypto ATMs, gift cards, or courier methods. If encountering such instructions, individuals should immediately pause and independently verify.
