Trump Media Q2 Loss Hits $238M, Drops Crypto Gambling and Paid Tweet Service
Trump Media disclosed on Monday a Q2 net loss of $238 million, 10 times higher than the same period last year, mainly due to unrealized losses of $245 million from the decline in Bitcoin and Cronos token prices.
Interim CEO Kevin McGurn announced the company is abandoning its ventures into online gambling and cryptocurrency over the past year, refocusing on its core social media business.
Key focus: Truth API paid data service. This offers Wall Street trading firms priority access to top Truth Social accounts (including Trump himself) for a monthly fee of $60K-$100K. So far, 10 high-frequency trading firms have signed up, with projected annual revenue of $7M-$12M (2-3x last year’s total revenue).
As of the end of Q2, the company holds over $400M in cash and $1.2B in Bitcoin assets but also has $1B in convertible note debt (maturing in 2028, with lenders holding a November redemption option).
