[CoreWeave Closes Up Over 7%, Company Enters Indonesia with First AI Data Center Deployment in the Asia-Pacific Region]
BlockBeats News, August 5, according to Reuters, AI cloud computing company CoreWeave announced its entry into Indonesia and plans to establish three new data centers in the region. This marks the company's first deployment of data centers in the Asia-Pacific region. CoreWeave stated that the three data centers will add a total contracted power capacity of 360 megawatts (MW), with the company responsible for owning and operating all facilities. The company noted that as demand for localized AI computing power grows among Asian enterprises, AI-native companies, and governments, the need for low-latency computing and data localization is driving the expansion of AI infrastructure into regional markets.
The Indonesia expansion plan also includes forming and training a local operations team to support the new facilities and promote the development of the local AI industry. As of March 2026, CoreWeave is expected to operate 49 data centers globally. Due to the continued growth in demand for AI cloud infrastructure, the company has significantly increased capital investments this year, with projected capital expenditures between $31 billion and $35 billion by 2026.
So far this year, CoreWeave has secured multi-billion-dollar cloud computing partnerships with several major tech companies, including expanding its $21 billion agreement with Meta and signing a multi-year cloud service agreement with Anthropic. As of the time of writing, CoreWeave closed up 7.16%, with its market capitalization rising to $50.1 billion; in after-hours trading, it is down 1.24%, at $90.76.
