[South Korea's SK Telecom to Invest 750 Billion KRW to Establish AI Data Center Subsidiary 'SK Hyper'] According to DeepFlow TechFlow, on July 26, South Korean media outlet Ket reported that SK Telecom (SKT) announced the establishment of a new company specializing in artificial intelligence data centers (AIDC) named 'SK Hyper.' The company plans to invest a total of 750 billion KRW to drive large-scale AI data center business expansion. Initially, 330 billion KRW will be invested, with a cumulative investment of 750 billion KRW planned by December 2030. SK Telecom will ultimately hold 100% equity in the company. The newly established SK Hyper will be responsible for the development and commercialization of future large-scale AI data center projects, including site selection, power infrastructure, and early-stage customer business collaborations. Additionally, the company plans to bring in external funding through financial investor (FI) equity investments and project financing (PF).
